The Search for Happiness

Let me first share with you that I am a Christian who loves the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart. The desire to know the Lord first came through a televised program of Billy Graham. When they asked the TV audience to write in if they wished to receive the Lord, I immediately got a pen and paper, wrote down my name and address and mailed it in. However, because they were on TV and I was in another country all they could do was mail me a newsletter. As a result, this was the extent of my knowing the Lord. There was no one to guide me into the things of Christ, to make Him real to me.

Finally, about 2 years later, I met a group of Christians through my sister. They were happy and when I was with them, for the first time I could say I was happy. People called them the local church but they simply called themselves the church in whatever city they were in. Through this group of Christians I came to discover that I could actually know, touch, and feel who the Lord Jesus is. It was strange at the time, but the first thing I tried was calling on His name. Tears ran down my cheeks because of the joy I felt inside. Before I was a very unhappy person, but when I realized I could talk to the Lord merely by calling Him it really was joy unspeakable as the Bible says.

My discovering of how precious my Lord is has not stopped expanding. I have been meeting with the “local churches” for more than 25 years and each year brings new and wonderful avenues to travel, leading to a deeper knowledge of what the Lord has done for me and how much He loves me.
